Director, Clinical Development - UK

Our client, an international pharmaceutical company, is looking for an experienced pharmaceutical physician to join a team focused on clinical development of a new clinical entity aiming to achieve regulatory approval in a number of indications.

Key duties and responsibilities:

* Providing medical input to the strategies for clinical studies, being responsible for key design elements of study protocols
* Working with study teams to resolve any medical problems, working closely with Data Management, Clinical Operations and Biostatistics
* Acting as principle contact on the scientific and medical issues for the functional lines within the study team
* Accountable for validity of clinical studies for conclusions concerning efficiency and safety
* Assisting in the preparation of clinical content of regulatory submissions and resolution of queries
* Initiating and maintaining external collaborations to develop new methodologies, biomarkers and outcome research measures
* Act as Study Director when required and operate at a strategic level within the matrix team structure

Key Skills / Requirements

* Educated to MD, PhD or equivalent level
* Proven clinical development experience in phase II-III
* Demonstrated ability to or potential to design, initiate and conduct clinical studies
* Experience in strategizing on phase III and IIIb clinical development is desirable
* Experience in GI or Hepatology therapeutic area is preferred but not essential
* Strong negotiation and management skills
